ORANGE—On June 28 Lestonnac Free Clinic was honored as a Nonprofit of the Year at a celebration of California Nonprofits Day at the State Capitol in Sacramento.

SAN BERNARDINO—Dignity Health St. Bernardine Medical Center welcomed Douglas Kleam to the St. Bernardine Medical Center (SBMC) team. Kleam is the new hospital president, effective June 12.

CHINO HILLS—Over 2,000 Catholics from across the Diocese and from as far away as Venezuela and the Philippines gathered at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Chino Hills to celebrate the Ordination of four men to the priesthood on May 20, also the Feast Day of the Diocese’s Patron, Saint Bernardine of Siena.

VATICAN CITY (CNA/EWTN News)—The importance of youth to both the present and future of the Church will be probed in the next world-wide Synod of Bishops.

 The theme for the 2018 50th General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, “Young People, the Faith and the Discernment of Vocation,” was announced in October of last year. The preparatory document for the synod has been released, indicating that young people will play an active role in both the preparation and the discussion.

 The foundation of the Christian life is laid by the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.

 Confirmation celebrates the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the baptized which increases and deepens our baptismal grace.
