SAN BERNARDINO—California voters on Nov. 6 narrowly rejected a state ballot measure that would have replaced the death penalty in California with a sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. The defeat of Prop 34 brought to a close nearly a year’s worth of public policy advocacy in favor of the measure in the diocese.

SAN JOSE—A few weeks ago I attended a week long conference in San Jose with the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions (FDLC) where our Bishop Gerald Barnes was the keynote speaker. I was honored to participate and be a part of this conference. It was an awesome experience being with diocesan directors from across the country.
